Tropical Wings Rainforest in the Atrium Gallery

To celebrate the neotropical migratory birds who make the St. Croix River Valley their summer home, The Phipps Atrium Gallery has been transformed into a tropical rainforest with birds made by students from Willow River Elementary School under the direction of local artist Lana Sjoberg.

This project is a partnership with Tropical Wings, a non-profit volunteer organization whose mission is to support the Sister Parks Agreement between the National Park Service in the Upper Midwest and national parks on the Osa Peninsula of Costa Rica (SINAC/ACOSA) by promoting an awareness of Neotropical migratory birds and supporting habitat conservation through building relationships within and between communities at both ends of the migration.

Observation, Reflection and Journaling in Nature: This class invites you to find a deeper, more holistic understanding of nature and place. Join us as we explore the power of keeping a nature journal in the beautiful Wisconsin Campus of Carpenter Nature Center. The instructor, Lynette Anderson, is a member of the Tropical Wings Board of Directors and an interpretive naturalist at Belwin Conservancy.

Co-sponsored by Tropical Wings. The class size is limited to 10. There is a $15 materials  fee, and registration is required. Call Carpenter Nature Center at 651-437-4359 to register.
